It is approximately one and a half hours' drive from Inverness, the most direct route from the south; the approach from Fort William on the west is more scenic but slower.

The Isle of Skye is about one and a half hours distant. A visit to Applecross peninsula is a must, Glenelg with its well preserved Brochs, Inverewe Gardens, Gairloch and Ullapool are interesting places to visit for days out. There are golf courses in Lochcarron and Gairloch, which also has beautiful sands. Swimming pools can be visited in Poolewe or Kyle of Lochalsh
